Pillayar Nonbu
௭ல்லா வருடங்களையும் போல் இல்லாமல் இந்த வருடம் இவ்விழா மெய்நிகராக நடந்தது. நூறுக்கும் மேற்பட்டோர் கலந்து கொண்டு அவரவர் இல்லங்களில் இழை எடுத்துக் கொண்டனர். இளைய தம்பதியினர், புதிதாகக் குடியேறியவர்கள், மாணவர்களாக வந்தவர்கள் என நாற்பதுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட நகரத்தார்கள் உற்சாகத்துடன் ஏலத்தில் கலந்துகொண்டு நல்ல காரியங்கள் பலவும் சிறப்பாக நடக்க அள்ளிக் கொடுத்தனர். இந்த வருடம் ஏலத்தின் மூலம் $26,001 சேர்ந்தது. கனடாவில் மிகக் குறைவான எண்ணிக்கையில் ஆன குடும்பங்களே வாழ்ந்து வருகிறோம். இருந்தாலும், நகரத்தார்களுக்கே உரிய ஈகை மனப்பான்மையுடன் அள்ளிக் கொடுத்து புதிய சாதனை இலக்கை அடைய உதவிய பின்வரும் அத்துணை கருணை உள்ளங்களுக்கும் நன்றி!

கனடா நகரத்தார் சங்கத்தினர் அனைவரும் ஆவலுடன் எதிர்நோக்கிய தீபத்திருநாள் விழாக் கொண்டாட்டம் இம்முறை இணையதளத்தின் உதவியுடன் மெய்நிகர் நிகழ்வாக நவம்பர் மாதம் 22ம் தேதி நடைபெற்றது. மாலை ஐந்து மணிக்குத் துவங்கிய விழா, சுமார் மூன்றரை மணிநேரம் களை கட்டியது. லாசிய தாண்டவ நாட்டியாலயாவின் சிறப்புப் பயிற்சியுடன் நம் இளம் சிறார்களும், சிறுமிகளும் இராமாயணக் கதையை நம் முன் ஓர் நாட்டிய நாடகமாகக் கொண்டு வந்து நிறுத்தினர். அழகன் முருகனின் பெருமையைச் சொல்லும் ஓர் நாட்டுப்புறப் பாடலுக்கு அழகு மயிலாள் கண்ணாத்தாளின் நடனம் அருமை. குழந்தைகளின் தமிழ்ப் பள்ளி நிகழ்ச்சியும் நடந்தேறியது. நம் அனைவரையும் சிரிப்புக் கடலில் மூழ்கடித்தது திரு. வள்ளியப்பன் குடும்பத்தினரின் குறும்படம். மறைந்த திரு. SP.B. அவர்களின் பாடல்களைப் பாடி நம்மைத் தாளம் போடச் செய்தனர் நம் உறுப்பினர் பலர்.

Mother's Day
The Mother’s day event was the first one this year that we celebrated virtually due to the pandemic. The event started with a devotional song from Srinithi Sethuraman, followed by an inaugural speech by our CNS president Arun Annan.
Sindhu Suppiah shared a wishes video for the Mother's day. Divya Srinivasan performed an outstanding dance number to the song, "Vaayadi Petha Pulla". Numerous children reiterated a line from "Ulaga Neethi", coordinated by Ramu Valliappan. Afterwards, Valliappan Annan's family presented a drama called “The Sottai Patch". The drama was very humorous and realistic about how parents started cutting their children's hair at home during the pandemic.

For the first time, our monthly CNS bhajan was held online, hosted by Drs. Muthulakshmi & Yegappan.
February
Family Day
Thank you for all attending the Family Day function on the 16th of February at SVBF Hall.
It was great to see some new families join us for the occasion.
To begin, we played some "broken telephone" games, for kids and adults, but with a twist: it was through actions!
Another was a "How well do you know each other?" game where the parent and child had to write answers to seven questions. Afterwards, they both came up to the stage to see how many matches they got.
As well, both adults and kids tried some challenging tongue-twisters, both in English and Tamil!
Finally, the entire group was led through a fun and energetic dance routine.
Thanks, to all for contributing the delicious food for the afternoon, SVBF hall, and to all who helped out, to make it a enjoyable and fun event.
Hope to see all for the upcoming bhajans, and Tamil New Year & Mother's Day function!

February's bhajan was held in Mississauga, at Janani & Senthil's home.

Murugan Abhishekam
It has become a tradition and ritual for our GTA Nagarathars to start the New Year by receiving the blessings of Lord Muruga. This year, on 19th Jan we gathered at the Richmond Hill Ganesha temple to take part in our annual Murugan Abishekam. The priest performed a homam with a kalasa poojai, during the abishekam for Murugan. Some of the items offered to Lord Murugan during the abishekam were sandhanam, milk, yogurt, panchaamirtham, honey, ilaneer, and manjal. After the abishekam, the water from the kalasams were also offered to Lord Murugan with special manthrams being chanted by many priests.

Pillayar Nonbu
An auspicious beginning to the new decade!
The 2019 Pillaiyar Nonbu was celebrated on 4th Jan 2020 at the Sringeri Vidhya Bharathi Foundation hall. The function had the largest turnout to date for any CNS function. Melodic bhajans sung by kids and everyone present marked the official commencement of the nonbu ceremonies. The bhajan was followed by ezhai distribution. A remarkable 230 ezhais were presented to the members in attendance. The CNS committee members also took this opportunity to share all that they were able to achieve over the last year and discuss their plans for the upcoming year with everyone present.
