Mother's Day and Tamil New Year

The Mother's Day and Tamil New Year celebration took place on May 10th,2025 at the SVBF hall, with 125 attendees. The event began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu by Shruti and Aditi, followed by President's speech.

Sindhu, representing the Social Committee, hosted the cultural program, leading a lively and engaging discussion. One of the event highlights was the Pattimandram debate, centered around the topic, "Which is the best place to raise children - Canada or India?" Despite many participants being first-time speakers, their confident delivery made it hard to tell. It is astonishing that this is Arunkumar Sundaram's first time as a judge, as his speech reflects the confidence and skill of a seasoned professional. Both the speakers and the judge put tremendous effort into fostering a thought-provoking conversation. Ultimately, the Canada side won the debate.
Attendees also enjoyed speeches from Shivani & Karthik, Gaushik & Vinayak, Divya, Srinidhi, Valli, and Meera's group dance and an individual dance performance by Harini Nagammai

Iniya, Meera, and Akilan brought energy to the evening by hosting a game show based on Tamil movie songs, adding a fun and interactive element to the celebration.
Dinner was provided by CNS, fully funded through membership contributions. This allowed the ladies to enjoy the event without the burden of preparing a potluck meal. A special thanks to SVBF for supplying the delicious dinner at a nominal cost and waiving the rental fee. Appreciation also goes to Arun Annan for his efforts in securing this wonderful arrangement.
Overall, the event successfully blended tradition, culture, and community spirit, making it a memorable occasion for all who attended.
